Serena Williams gives birth to second child with husband Alexis Ohanian and reveals daughter’s beautiful name

Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian have welcomed their second child.

The tennis legend, 41, announced her pregnancy alongside the Reddit co-founder, 40, at the Met Gala in May, revealing her baby belly in the most beautiful way imaginable.

Following an epic gender reveal party, the couple uploaded a video on TikTok earlier today, marking the arrival of their newborn daughter, Adira River Ohanian.

The couple could be seen catching up with their eldest daughter, Alexis Olympia, in the brief movie, which was set to Bazzi’s hit Beautiful.

The new mum, dressed in a bright pink sweatshirt, informed her family she would ‘be right back’ before returning with their new baby.

She kissed her husband and embraced Alexis before snuggling up to the baby.

The beautiful video closed with a series of family polaroids celebrating the new addition.

‘Welcome my beautiful angel,’ the athlete simply captioned the video.

It was up to Alexis, a delighted new father, to reveal further information about Adira’s arrival by posting a family photo on Instagram.

‘Welcome, Adira River Ohanian. I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful,’ he captioned the post.

He added the quote: ‘”Your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.”’

Fans were eager to offer their congratulations in the comments section, as well as their well wishes for the family.

A follower wrote: ‘Congratulations! I hope you feel as wonderful as you look!’

Another said: ‘Congratulations! Welcome to the world lil one!!!’

‘Wow congratulations, welcome angel, Blessings on you,’ one agreed.

‘Congratulations. Happy for your safe and healthy delivery and a healthy baby,’ a TikTok user replied.

As a commenter added: ‘Congratulations to the whole family! Well done mama and I pray you have a healthy healing process.’

Serena and Alexis met in Rome in 2015 and have been inseparable ever since, with their engagement announced the following year.

They began their family in September of 2017 when they welcomed Alexis Olympia, before marrying in November in a star-studded wedding.

Serena, on the other hand, has been frank about how difficult her first pregnancy was, detailing the agony she suffered in the delivery room and revealing that she nearly died.

In a candid open letter in the pages of Vogue last year, she spoke of plans to expand her family with the businessman, explaining: ‘We recently got some information from my doctor that put my mind at ease and made me feel that whenever we’re ready, we can add to our family.’

She noted that it was unfair to have to choose between her tennis efforts and her family life, but she admitted that “something had to give.”

‘If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family,’ she continued.

‘These days, if I have to choose between building my tennis résumé and building my family, I choose the latter.’

Serena disclosed her second pregnancy on the red carpet at the Met Gala, holding her baby belly in front of the cameras, in true Serena fashion.

‘There’s three of us here,’ she told Vogue at the time. ‘I’m good, I’m really good now. I can breathe, I can stop, I’m not hiding…’
