Scott Mills celebrates after completing 24-hour treadmill challenge with over £700,000 donated to Children In Need

Scott Mills might be lying down for the next four to six weeks after completing his epic 24-hour treadmill challenge for Children In Need.

The BBC Radio 2 presenter has been pounding the rubber belt since Wednesday morning and, after an exhaustive full day and a host of surprise guests, completed the challenge – dubbed the Great Scott Treadmills – on Thursday at 8:20am.

Incredibly, Scott’s efforts were not in vain as he managed to raise a staggering £705,835 for the charity.

As the clock counted down the final few seconds, the 49-year-old was showered with confetti at the BBC Radio Theatre in London where the event was held. He then hopped off the treadmill before being hugged by his colleagues while Pudsey adorably cheered from the sidelines.

Scott was flooded with support from his celebrity friends as he neared the glorious end, with Joe Wicks – who did the same challenge last year – tweeting: ‘Keep going #ScottTreadMills You are smashing it mate. You’ve got this.’

Sophie Ellis-Bextor said: ‘Morning team! Go, Scott! You’re doing so well. Nearly there… sending all the love and DON’T LOOK AT THE CLOCK. This bit was the hardest but the ending is all worth it. Xx.’

Jason Donovan also applauded his pal, writing: ‘Left foot donation ( and right foot ) coming your way @scott_mills  SUPERHUMAN effort my friend What a star X.’

Scott had kicked off the challenge being joined by Eurovision winner Sam Ryder, who penned a special remix of his hit song Space Man just for the DJ’s charity event.

Lyrics included: ‘I’ll be your pace man, I’ll be your pace man, when your legs begin to burn, there’s blisters on your souls, I’ll be your pace man, until I’ve got to go home.

‘I’ll be your pace man, slow and steady wins the race man. When your lungs are fit to burst and you can’t feel your toes, I’ll be your pace man.’

Radio 2 breakfast show host Zoe Ball praised her friend and colleague, telling listeners: ‘The energy this bloke has and the kindness in his silly but amazing little heart, it’s wicked to see,’ while Scott joked he would be attending Sam’s London show next week on crutches.
