Sarah Jessica Parker uploaded an apparently ordinary video – until you turn up the volume and listen till the finish.

As the new month of August began, the Sex and the City legend, 58, appeared to be enjoying some coastal leisure.

The actor shared a video of a peaceful beach scene on social media, in which waves smashed into the coast, birds cooed, and the light reflected off the watery horizon. Beautiful.

But not all was as it looked, since towards the end of the viceo, Sarah murmurs, ‘Rabbit, rabbit.’ Okay, okay…?

rather don’t worry, it’s not completely random – and SJP isn’t attempting to tame a wild beach rabbit – rather this weird phrase is a tradition.

When you wake up on the first of the month, saying ‘rabbit, rabbit, rabbit’ is meant to bring you good luck.

For it to work, it must be the first thing you say that day. Surprisingly, the belief was supposed to have originated in Britain and North America.

While it is unknown where this strange phrase originated, tall-eared animals have been a sign of good fortune for thousands of years, thanks to their high fecundity and associations with visions of spring-like regeneration.

The first written mention to the superstition appeared in an issue of the British magazine Notes and Queries in 1909, when a parent recorded their children saying “rabbits” on the first of the month for good luck.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt was alleged to have murmured the words on the first of every month without fail.

It’s not the first time SJP has used the phrase, and indeed she nodded to it in the caption of her post as she wrote: ‘August 1st, 2023. Rabbit rabbit. X, SJ.’

An eagle-eyed fan spotted this recurrence, as they commented: ‘Is it weird that I was waiting for this this morning?! 🤣🐇🐇

‘Rabbit Rabbit. I need to take the time band remember and speak it,’ said another.

Another wrote: ‘I always think of you on the first day of the month!!! Rabbit rabbit💗’

Well, that’s us educated.
