Ryan Gosling had the finest – but most weird – answer to critics on social media who claim he’s too old to portray Ken in the upcoming Barbie film.
The 42-year-old actress co-stars in the live-action picture with Margot Robbie (who plays Barbie, of course).
We’ve seen glimpses of the mystical Barbieland in two trailers over the last few months, and we’ve gotten a taste of the music, which includes a song by the Place Beyond The Pines actor himself.
The buzz is true, and the Barbie era has arrived. Ladies, get your nails done since it’s hot pink summer.
With it comes the Drive actor, who, shockingly, appears to be more in love with the picture than everyone else, based on a recent interview.
While many people are excited to see Ryan play Ken in what appears to be a funny role, some believe he is too old for the position.

To be honest, many individuals are too old for Barbie dolls, yet here we are, counting down the days (51) till the film’s premiere on July 21st.
But that wasn’t Ryan’s response, as he told GQ in their cover interview with him that if people don’t like him in the role they can, er, find another Ken ‘to play with’.
Yep, his comeback started off weird and it only got weirder, as the Notebook heartthrob continued: ‘It is funny… this kind of clutching-your-pearls idea of, like, #notmyken.
‘Like you ever thought about Ken before this? But suddenly, it’s like, “No, we’ve cared about Ken this whole time”.
‘No, you didn’t. You never did. You never cared. Barbie never f***** with Ken. That’s the point.
‘If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told.’
We weren’t expecting that, but we applaud his dedication to the character, as did fans, who tweeted: ‘The ken we needed but didn’t deserve.’
Another said: ‘Ryan Gosling is the first ever KENthusiast he deserved the role.’

Ryan’s affection for the strong doll figure is more profound than you might believe, given that Ken is a children’s toy with no distinguishing personality or attributes.
The La La Land star detailed how he discovered parallels between his youthful self and Ken.
He remembered how much he resembled the plastic doll with his Hammer trousers as he danced around ‘the mall’.
Ryan sensed some distance between himself and that small child when he began directing more’serious’ pictures, such as Place Beyond The Pines and Drive.
So let’s just say he’s glad to see him again, even if it’s in an odd – and extremely pink – setting.
Ryan also justified his recent absence from Hollywood as being due to his partner Eva Mendez giving birth to their second kid.
The actor claimed that he merely wanted to spend more time with his family (for which we applaud him).
The global summer issue of British GQ is available on digital download and newsstands from June 13.
