Ginny Lemon has claimed they were misgendered by a member of staff at a designer shop in Birmingham after being directed to the menswear section.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race star, who is non-binary, claimed on Twitter: ‘Such a pleasure to be misgendered at @LouisVuitton Birmingham today such b*****ks!

‘And on my special day! Shame on you! The look up and down and stern “menswear is downstairs” sounded rotten in your mouth.’

Ginny, 31, had been in Birmingham for the unveiling of a specially designed costume for the Bullring shopping centre’s signature bull statue, based on their drag outfit.

They had posed for photos in a yellow feathered outfit, Crocs and glasses, with a headpiece made of lemon slices, which had been replicated for the bull to wear over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Ginny shared the images – showing that the bull even had matching make-up – adding: ‘Dream come true! Thank you @bullring’.

The six-tonne statue’s new look was in honour of what would have been the weekend Pride would have been held in Birmingham, with the celebration being postponed to later in the year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bullring said on Facebook: ‘We should have been celebrating Birmingham Pride this weekend but with the event postponed until later in the year we decided that we could all do with a slice of fun.
