Robbie Williams thinks Gemma Collins will steal coveted Christmas number one in 2020

Robbie Williams is backing his pal Gemma Collins to steal the top spot when it comes to this year’s Christmas number one song.

The former Towie star, 39, is taking on the festive music charts for 2020 after dropping her own Christmas-inspired single with Darren Day, who she starred alongside on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016.

Gemma and Darren have released their rendition of hit holiday track Baby, It’s Cold Outside and now Robbie reckons the pair have a real shot at getting to number one.

The Let Me Entertain You hitmaker, who has treated fans to his own festive song Can’t Stop Christmas, called Gemma’s track a ‘cracker’.

He’s set to make a cameo on Gemma’s reality series Diva Forever and backing her for number one, Robbie tells her in a video message that he is wishing her the ‘very, very best Christmas and incredible new year’.

‘Good luck with the new single with Darren, it’s a cracker,’ the singer says.

‘Thank you for making me smile and thank you for making me laugh, we need more of that on our televisions,’ Robbie, who previously confessed to binge-watching Gemma’s reality show and ‘really enjoying it’, added.

Gemma first teased her new single on Instagram and revealed that all profits from the song will go to the Rethink Mental Illness charity.

Alongside the cover art for her track, Gemma wrote: ‘I am SO EXCITED to let you know that my Christmas song is now on PRE – ORDER.’

‘I wanted to do something fun and fabulous for you all for charity as it’s been a tough year for all,’ she said.

‘I hope this spreads some cheer and warmth in your hearts. Head over to my story to pre order!!!!!’

The reality star then shared a clip of her in the recording studio and refers to that iconic moment on CBB which coined her catchphrase, ‘I’m claustrophobic, Darren,’ as she teased: ‘To the nation, it’s the GC and Dazzle. He’s not claustrophobic anymore.

‘He’s singing a song to cheer everyone up from what a terrible year this has been. Take it away, Dazzle!’
