Rio Ferdinand has revealed he is such a noisy eater that his family have had to play music just so they can’t hear him chewing.
The footballer, 42, admitted that his wife, Kate, 29, gets annoyed with the noises he makes while having dinner, and even one of his kids can’t bear it.
He joked: ‘Kate’s pet hate is loud eating and for some reason they call me the “washing machine” ‘because I eat so loud.
‘One of my boys, he gets the hump and everything and he will move seats. They actually put the music on now while we’re eating because they think I eat so loud.’
Rio, who has three children from his first marriage to late wife Rebecca Ellison, also welcomed baby son Cree with Kate during lockdown, which he says was the most special time during the pandemic.
He says: ‘Kate, the kids and I managed to get out on plenty of bike rides and walks around where we live too. We’re always active and do things like this as a family together, but it was nice to have the opportunity to do it a bit more and reset a little bit from our busy lives.

‘A very memorable moment that happened for our family during lockdown though was the birth of Cree!
‘It was strange welcoming him in these circumstances and not being able to visit friends and family or for him to see or play with other children, but we’re just delighted to have him as part of our family and I feel pleased that I’ve been able to spend more time at home following his birth.’
Rio also revealed that he and Kate try and have regular date nights toi spend time together as a couple, too.
