The romantics among us were surprised when rumors circulated that Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner might be divorcing.
Their fans were even more shocked when the couple confirmed the end of their marriage, stating they were ending it ‘after four wonderful years.’
They initially met in 2016 when Joe, 34, slid into the Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner’s DMs, and a year later, they got engaged.
After marrying in Las Vegas in 2019, they welcomed two children, including a baby daughter born last summer.
Amidst the divorce rumors, speculation arose regarding the reasons behind their decision.
While Sophie and popstar Joe claim it was a mutual choice, TMZ reported that differences in their lifestyles, with her liking to party and him preferring to stay at home, led to their split.
However, fans of Sophie seem to disagree as they’ve uncovered a 2020 interview where she appeared to say the opposite.
During an interview with TBS about their lockdown life, Sophie mentioned that everything was ‘working in her favor’ because Joe is a ‘social butterfly,’ while she’s an introverted ‘homebody.’
‘I’m an introvert, I’m a homebody,’ she began.
‘If I could stay at home all day I would, so this is great for me. I leave the house once a day to walk my dogs and then that’s it. I see how people are finding it difficult, but I don’t understand how people are really struggling with social distancing.
‘I’m like, all you have to do is stay at home and get drunk at home.’
When asked about their relationship, she joked: ‘Yeah, I heard the divorce rates are up.’
She then added: ‘Everything seems to be working out in my favor here because Joe’s a real social butterfly, so I struggle to lock him down and have him just spend time with me, so it’s like prison for him but it’s great for me.’
Sophie’s fans loved the throwback clip, with one Game of Thrones enthusiast commenting: ‘THE NORTH REMEMBERS.’
Another said: ‘Her team doesn’t need to do anything. Her fans will unearth these gems for her.’
In their joint statement about their split, they said: ‘After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.
‘There are many speculative narratives as to why, but this is truly a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.’

The Jonas Brothers singer officially filed for divorce from Sophie on Tuesday, September 5, obtaining a petition for dissolution of marriage in Miami Dade County, Florida.
The filing revealed the initials of their youngest daughter, D.J., whose name they had kept secret.
A source told The Blast that the couple had a prenuptial agreement in place, but it did not cover their two children due to state laws.
The prenup states that both parties will keep any money made from their respective careers.
Sophie’s estimated net worth is around $12 million (£9.5 million), while Joe is believed to be worth $50 million (£40 million).
