Reese Witherspoon’s daughter Ava Phillippe has spoken candidly about her sexuality, and how she’s ‘attracted to people’ as opposed to any particular gender.
The 22-year-old held an Instagram Q&A where she was asked by a fan whether she likes girls or boys.
The model responded by telling her 999k followers: ‘I’m attracted to people!’
‘Gender is whatever,’ she added.
Ava posted her comments alongside a smiley selfie in which she wears bright blue eyeshadow with winged eyeliner and a striped jumpsuit.
Ava – who has been dating fellow UC Berkeley student Owen Mahoney for two years – is the eldest daughter of Reese and Ryan Phillippe.
The influencer is also a big sister to Deacon Reese Phillippe, 18, and a half-sibling to eight-year-old Tennessee James Toth, whom the Legally Blonde star shares with current husband, talent agent Jim Toth.
The actress spoke about her children’s upbringing to InStyle last year, admitting it was ‘an odd situation’ since they are growing up in the spotlight, unlike herself.
‘It’s an odd situation because I didn’t grow up famous. So [Ava is] living an experience that I did not have, and so are my sons,’ she shared.
‘We are lucky enough to have friends who grew up in Hollywood and can help give them advice on how to navigate.’
Showcasing her close bond with her brood, the 45-year-old added that she fully supports her kids in finding their truth.
‘Ava is so down-to-earth. She wants to do great things in the world.
‘She’s studying and learning and trying to find herself. It’s a big thing in life to try different things and figure out what is really your path.’
Ava celebrated turning 22 in September, when her proud mother gushed over the ‘extraordinary person’ she is in a loving Instagram tribute.
In disbelief at how her daughter was so grown up already, she wrote: ‘Happy Birthday to my sweet little girl…excuse me… I mean my adult daughter!!!’
Alongside a photo of a beaming Ava, she continued: ‘Words can’t describe how proud I am of you. You have grown into an extraordinary person who cares so much about the world around her. I am so lucky to have you light up my life. I love you, Ava!!’
