Chris Evans, a radio host, has announced that he has skin cancer.
The 57-year-old presenter broke the news to his Virgin Radio listeners on Monday morning.
Fortunately, he verified that the cancer had been discovered in its early stages.
Chris also expressed optimism for a full recovery, citing skin cancer as one of the more curable types of the condition.
He is scheduled to begin therapy next month.
Talking on his breakfast show, he explained: ‘We need to discuss what’s going on with this issue. It is a melanoma.
‘There’s this phrase called a malignant melanoma – you know once you get something and you find out all about it – that is a redundant phrase because if it is a melanoma, it is malignant.’
As per The Sun, he added: ‘But it’s been caught so early, just so you know, that it should be completely treatable.’
According to the broadcaster, this will occur “on September 14th.”
The ardent runner, who took part in this year’s London Marathon, will also be unable to engage in his favoured type of exercise for around four weeks following the treatment.
Chris had a skin cancer scare in 2019 when he discovered concerning spots on his body.
He added that the scorching summer of that year, as well as the ‘high amounts of UV,’ had caused him anxiety.
He was informed by the specialist doctor he saw at the time that he had “nothing to worry about,” but that he should undergo annual checkups “simply because of your complexion.”
Chris’s health was last in the news in 2021, when he was forced to skip his Virgin Radio programme for two weeks due to surgery to cure excruciating kidney stones.
Chris has been married to Natasha Shishmanian since 2007, with whom he has three children: Noah, 14, Eli, 10, and Walt and Boo, four.
He previously married former Loose Women actress Carol McGiffin from 1991 to 1998, however the couple divorced in 1993.
After six months of dating, he married Doctor Who actor Billie Piper, who was a chart-topping pop sensation at the time and was 18 years his junior.
The couple divorced in 2004, although the parting was amicable.
Last year, Billie praised her time with Chris, saying she ‘loved it’ and ‘learned so much’ from their relationship, and that she thought she had ‘found a great friend’ in her then-husband.
‘I guess meeting someone who had experienced [fame] for 20 years, at that level, it was very nurturing. And also very drunken, which I needed. I had a lot of fun during those years,’ the I Hate Suzie star told The Guardian.
