In an endearing update, Jonnie Irwin revealed a huge family milestone: his son’s first day at school.
Since learning of his cancer diagnosis in November, the A Place in the Sun host has been full-on dad to his three children.
Jonnie, 49, confessed that his lung cancer had spread to his brain and was fatal, but he is determined to build as many memories as possible with his small family.
During the summer vacation, the kids were treated to days at animal parks and family picnics in the sun.
The holidays are past, and his four-year-old son Rex, whom he shares with his wife Jessica Holmes, is off to school.
‘First day of school. I’m so proud of him I could burst x,’ wrote Jonnie on his Instagram, where he has kept fans updated on their adventures.
Rex grinned at his father for the usual first-day school photo, which was shot in the garden sunshine.
One commenter wrote: ‘It’s an emotional day first day at school Have a fantastic day x.’
‘He’s like his Dad !!! proud Papa moment,’ said another while someone else added: ‘He looks so smart! Hope he had the best day xx.’
Jonnie also has two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac, whom he recently surprised with a Jurassic jungle-themed house remodel replete with tents and toys.
The host has yet to inform his children about his illness, despite earlier saying that it would be ‘horrible news that they’d have to get their head around’.
Despite his illness, Jonnie is still doing as much as he can and recently had an evening out on the red carpet.
He attended the First Time Buyer Magazine Awards on Saturday night with his old Escape to the Country co-star Nicki Chapman.
SO Resi Education received the ‘prestigious’ Jonnie Irwin Legacy Award on the evening for their efforts in teaching the next generation of first-time buyers how to jump on the property ladder.
