Piers Morgan has told Laurence Fox ‘people are tired of you being a d**khead’ in their latest war of words over coronavirus restrictions.
Just one day after the Good Morning Britain presenter called for the controversial actor to ‘shutup’ after he irresponsibly tweeted that he had a ‘large group’ of friends over to his house for lunch, the pair have clashed online.
It all kicked off when Piers shared the latest Covid-19 death figures and called the 603 lives lost a ‘desperate heart-rending tragedy for their families.’
‘Not to forget the tens of thousands of avoidable cancer deaths as a result of lack of diagnosis and treatment,’ Laurence hit back. ‘Every one of them a heart-rending tragedy for their families. Just horrendous.’
Piers responded: ‘Yes. Of course, one of the reasons people may not get the cancer treatment they need is if people like you & Rita Ora keep ignoring lockdown rules to party with your mates, cases then inevitably rise, hospitals fill up & appointments get cancelled.
‘Do you see the problem?’
Laurence then shared a screengrab of an old tweet Piers had posted about his son attending a Black Lives Matter protest, stating ‘people are getting tired of this moral superiority’.
In the post, which dated back to June, Piers penned: ‘Proud of my son for attending the #BlackLivesMatter protest which he found profoundly inspiring. He told me he maintained social distancing as best he could in the large crowd.
‘Not easy given many others weren’t, but I’m glad he tried.’
This was the last straw for Piers, who simply wrote back: ‘I think people are tired of you being a d**khead, Laurence.’
It comes after Laurence revealed that he hosted several friends at his house for lunch and admitted to sharing hugs with them despite England’s current lockdown measures which bans people meeting indoors or outside with a group larger than six.
‘Just had a large group over to lunch and we hugged and ate and talked and put the world to rights,’ he tweeted.
‘It was lovely. You’ll never take that away from people. Stay out. Protect your rights. If the @nhs can’t cope, then the @nhs isn’t fit for purpose. Compliance is violence.’
