Paul Hollywood has slammed a ‘clown’ who put up a bogus Instagram account claiming to be affiliated to a bogus OnlyFans account.
The Great British Bake Off judge has reacted angrily after discovering that someone is impersonating as him on the photo sharing app, claiming that he has a ‘secret account’ to communicate with admirers on the adult only membership site.
The false profile, which has over 3,800 followers and the not-so-subtle username @paul_only_fans_page_, presented the page as a method for the celebrity to communicate with ‘a handful of my fans’.
It says, ‘I want to utilise this medium to thank you for all your love and support, this is my private account I made to randomly contact just a handful of my followers.’
Not surprisingly, Paul is furious about the fake and took to his genuine, real Instagram account – @paul.hollywood, replete with a blue tick and around 541,000 followers – to clear things straight.
He wrote: ‘Look at this clown , really !!! Instagram refuse to help with situations like this and it’s left to me to name and shame! Scammer!! (sic)’
Paul may not have seen the humour in the situation, but some of his followers did, like 2021 Bake Off champion Giuseppe Dell’Anno, who mocked the OnlyFans (or is it OnlyFlans?) concept.
He cheekily quipped: ‘Look at the silver lining: if you opened an OnlyFans page, you’d get at least 3k followers! 😆😆😆’
Other people had the same idea, with another follower commenting: ‘Let’s not run from the fact that a lot of people would 100% wish for a Paul Hollywood OnlyFans though 👀🔥’
To be honest, we were expecting more ‘soggy bottom’ jokes.
It’s hardly unexpected that Paul is upset, given that he’s already stated that he doesn’t like being called a sex symbol or silver fox.
‘It’s very flattering – but I’m just a normal fat bloke from the north,’ he told The Sun back in 2015. ‘I find it embarrassing just going to a swimming pool, because I get stared at.
‘I can’t even walk into a fast-food shop without it happening. I’m still not used to it.’
And back in 2013, he told the Radio Times that he don’t ‘really believe it’ when people compliment his looks.
‘It’s flattering. But I always think they are taking the mickey. I don’t really believe it,’ he said. ‘It’s quite embarrassing. I’m quite shy, really. The figure you see on TV, that’s just a persona.’
