Paloma Faith shares concerns over juggling motherhood and a career she’s ‘passionate about’

Paloma Faith has expressed fears over balancing her career while raising two young children.

Less than a month after welcoming her newborn daughter, her second child with Leyman Lahcine, the 39-year-old came clean about her fears that ‘no one would be there to greet her’ upon returning to work.

In a new ‘postpartum diary’ post shared on her Instagram on Thursday, the singer candidly wrote: ‘Worrying about the future, how this works career-wise, how I can be a good mum and have a career I love and am passionate about because that’s what I want.

‘There’s this fear that if you focus on something else for a second when you come back, no one will be there to greet you. I think all working mums struggle with this. Worry is my main thing right now.’

Despite her worries, Paloma admitted she was overjoyed that her four-year-old daughter was ‘starting to get used to the imposter in her life’.

‘She even asked if she could have a bath with her yesterday! There’s progress,’ she delightedly wrote.

The Better Than This singer went on to speak about her ‘magical’ alone time with her newborn.

Paloma said: ‘There are these moments in the dark when there is silence in the house that you have with a newborn, it’s like you both know you have something special together and you are intrinsically linked forever. It’s quite magical.’

‘Through all the emotion and exhaustion and worry, you just click.

The couple welcomed their first child in 2016 and announced they were expecting a second in September 2020, with the star opening up about her ‘struggle’ with IVF.

Announcing her pregnancy news on Instagram last month, Paloma wrote: ‘I had a planned c section yesterday.

‘I’m in a lot of pain and didn’t sleep last night but it’s worth it to see and meet the new little cherub I have infront of me [sic]

‘It’s been about 30 hours and already I’m Exhausted, sore and my nipples are on fire with a baby piranha that wants to kill me On them every few hours but I am of course elated [sic]!

‘This baby couldn’t be more loved or wanted if she tried (yes I have two gals). I’m now going through the constant worry of bottle vs breast, last time I breastfed exclusively, and I think it was too hard!’
