Olympian Jenny Jones gives birth to first child and reveals oldschool name

Jenny Jones, an Olympic snowboarder, has given birth to a son!

The 43-year-old skier and Ski Sunday host gave birth to her first child with partner Dan Haines.

The couple also revealed the baby’s name: Wilbur Jones-Haines.

Jenny shared the good news on social media on Wednesday evening, along with photos of their newest family member.

Jenny appears to be cradling the fair-haired young boy in one photo, and the lovely infant appears to be sleeping on her bosom in another.

In the caption she introduced him: ‘Wilbur Jones-Haines 8lbs 3oz…so in love x

‘Over the moon to have Dan by my side throughout such an incredibly powerful experience as we welcomed our gorgeous little fella into the world x’

Back in March, the Olympic bronze winner announced her pregnancy, saying she and Dan were “ready with all the embraces” for their new arrival.

Friends rushed to congratulate the TV star, as one said: ‘Jenny he’s perfect. You did so well! Hope you aren’t in too much pain. Xx.’

Fellow Olympian Chemmy Alcott wrote: You were made for this JJ and Dan must be sooo stoked to have a lad! Biggest hugs. Here if you need anything xx.’

Jenny became a household name after winning the United Kingdom’s first Winter Olympics medal.

She received bronze in 2014 for her performance in the first women’s slopestyle competition in Sochi.

‘I never went into snowboarding thinking I was going to be a professional snowboarder,’ the winner claimed in a special documentary created about her for Dazed.

‘I just wanted to go snowboarding. I decided to do it for a year before going to university and I didn’t look any further ahead than that.

‘A lot of things in life, you don’t want to take a risk, you want to do half and half, I couldn’t do that.

‘I’ll look back and know that I went in the direction I believed in and I didn’t wuss out. How many people get a chance to do this?’

Congratulations!
