Nicola Coughlan gave Kim Kardashian some words of encouragement before her Saturday Night Live debut last year.
The reality star – who is a massive fan of Bridgerton – slid into the actress’ DMs for a chat about the Netflix favourite, and they’ve been pals ever since.
Speaking to Bustle, Nicola said: ‘I woke up one morning [in 2021] and had a DM from Kim Kardashian. I was like, “What is going on?” So weird! We talked about Bridgerton.’
Nicola, 35, revealed they still keep in touch, and she even wished her luck before she hosted SNL.
She added: ‘I messaged Kim to say, “You’re gonna do great!” And she said, “Thanks, I’m really nervous”. I told her, “No, you’re gonna kill it”. She’s so nice. I’d heard that about her from lots of different people, and I can attest to it now.’
She quipped: ‘Well, now I’m, like, best friends with Kim Kardashian.’
Nicola admitted she always ‘loved’ interacting with fans – even ones that aren’t global megastars – but as she became more famous, she’s noticed a change in the way people see her.
She explained: ‘In the beginning, I really loved interacting with people who were watching the show.
‘We were all on the same level, like kids in a classroom together, but the more well known you become, the more you become like a weird teacher, and people start treating you less and less like a real person. That’s hard to deal with.’
Kim isn’t the only famous face who tunes into Bridgerton, with Kate Middleton also a huge fan.
Nicola previously admitted she finds it ‘mind-blowing’ that so many A-listers can’t get enough of the drama.
She said: ‘It’s crazy to think that something you made has been seen by that many people in the world. It’s quite mind-blowing.’
