Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have announced their engagement, and fans are adoring their romantic Ibiza proposal, which included baby Bambi.
While the video shows Molly-Mae sobbing with excitement, she has admitted that she was on the verge of crying for another reason.
Molly-Mae revealed in a video about the proposal’s behind-the-scenes drama that Tommy began acting’shady’ in the car.
His actions made her dread the worst before he dropped down on one knee and put all anxieties to rest.
Tommy staged a false influencer event, replete with bogus invites, to fool his wife-to-be into believing she was going to a posh brand event.
Before asking the question, the boxer revealed his heart was beating, and the 24-year-old of course answered yes.
‘We jumped in the car and I said bye to Holly and Jack who had actually also just taken some pictures of me and Tommy on Tommy’s phone,’ Molly-Mae said.
‘As we got into the car I said – this is the really funny part of the story – I said to Tommy: “Can I have a look at the pictures on your phone”.’
According to an unwitting Molly-Mae, this is when Tommy began acting strangely.
She continued: ‘He was suddenly acting all shady and was like “oh yeah let me just quickly reply to my dad”.
‘He just started acting really weird and I was like why won’t he just let me go on his phone? Ladies and even guys imagine how I’m feeling right, four years deep into our relationship and he’s acting shady about me going on his phone.
‘My mind is doing somersaults, I am literally freaking out and thinking the worst.’
The couple met on Love Island in 2019 and welcomed their first child, Bambi, in January of this year.
While she can laugh about it now, Molly-Mae was convinced there was a ‘issue’ in their relationship and acted as if she were in a’sad music video’ at the time.
Thankfully, Tommy was not up to anything sinister other than planning the perfect proposal for his child’s mother.
‘Little did I know it was a million pictures of the setup, the flowers, Ruth-Anne my favourite singer doing soundcheck videos and everything on his phone.’
Tommy was equally concerned, trying to figure out how not to raise suspicion – until Molly-Mae questioned the location.
His athletic abilities came in helpful at this time, as the 24-year-old ran out of the car, leaving his shocked soon-to-be fiancee believing he was unhappy with her.
‘I thought this is going to be a fun event because we’ve fully just fallen out,’ added Molly-Mae, laughing.
Fortunately, someone delivered her a ‘wonderful’ letter that dispelled all her anxieties, and the pair had a happy ending.
