Molly-Mae Hague has warned against importing dogs from Russia following the heartbreaking death of her puppy Mr Chai earlier this year.
The Love Island star was given the adorable Pomeranian puppy from boyfriend Tommy Fury in celebration of her 21st birthday in June. However, Mr Chai died just six days after the couple brought him home following a seizure and various health issues.
It later emerged that Tommy, 21, had bought Mr Chai from a seller who imported the puppy from Russia, sparking backlash.
Reflecting on the tragic situation, Molly-Mae told The Sun: ‘If we had our chance again, we wouldn’t have imported from Russia.
‘The autopsy results showed that his skull wasn’t fully developed and he didn’t have a white blood cell left in his body.’
She added: ‘If we had the time again, we’d have a dog from the UK.’
It comes days after Molly-Mae reflected on Mr Chai’s death and described it as the ‘saddest’ day of her life.
The reality star took part in the latest social media trend where celebrities share throwback photos of special moments as requested from fans.
When asked to share a photo from when she was at her ‘saddest’, Molly-Mae posted sweet photos and videos of her cuddling the puppy and said it was when ‘I found out my time with this baby was over. No pain like it’.
Molly-Mae opened up about Mr Chai’s death in an emotional YouTube video, explaining that Mr Chai had battled several health issues such as his skull not forming properly.
She explained in the video: ‘Tommy literally threw up everywhere, and I just kept saying like: “It’s a prank”. We get prank-called all the time and some sick person has found out Chai’s gone to the vet. It’s a prank, “No, your dog has died”.
‘We’re not asking for any kind of sympathy. What’s happened is awful. I’m asking you to understand that the dog travelling from Russia is not the reason he died.’
Molly-Mae and Tommy found love in the 2019 summer series of Love Island and have since moved in together in Manchester.
