Michelle Yeoh paid a visit to her father’s grave with her Oscar for best actress.
Michelle, 60, received the award last month for her performance as Evelyn in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, which swept the board at this year’s gala.
On Wednesday, the celebrated actress announced she’d ‘brought Mr O home’ and shared a touching snapshot of the statue at her father’s cemetery.
Yeoh Kian Teik, her father, died in 2014 at the age of 89.
Michelle captioned her post: ‘Brought Mr O home. Without my parents’ love and trust and support… I wouldn’t be here today… love so much.’
According to the Independent, Michelle’s visit coincided with Qing Ming, a traditional event in which people visit the graves of their ancestors.
She was the first Asian actress to win the award at last month’s presentation, beating out Michelle Williams, Cate Blanchett, Andrea Riseborough, and Ana de Armas.
Appearing on stage in a beautiful white gown, she proudly told the crowd: ‘For all the little boys and girls who look like me, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities. This is proof [to] dream big, dreams do come true.
‘Ladies, never let anyone tell you you are past your prime. Never give up.
‘I wouldn’t be standing here tonight without the Daniels [directors], without A24, without my amazing cast and crew, without everyone who was involved with Everything Everywhere All At Once.’
Michelle also offered a message to her mother, continuing: ‘I have to dedicate this to my mom, all the moms in the world because they are really the superheroes, and without them none of us would be here tonight.
‘She’s 84, and I’m taking this home to her. She’s watching right now in Malaysia with my family and friends. I love you guys, I’m bringing this home to you.
‘And also to my extended family in Hong Kong, where I started my career. Thank you for letting me stand on your shoulders, giving me a leg up so I can be here today.’
She added: ‘Thank you to the Academy. This is history in the making.’
