Even the famous can’t avoid being grounded, as a technological problem trapped a reunited Stormzy and Maya Jama on Monday.
The rapper is said to have flown Maya to Greece for a belated 29th birthday celebration, anticipating their reunion on Instagram.
Then photos emerged of them holding hands while shopping for the holidays, both just smiling with excitement, confirming everyone’s expectations and desires.
Maya also shared a video in which fans believe Stormzy, 30, can be heard stating ‘it’s pretty fantastic’ as she demonstrated a fancy beverages machine.
Despite the fact that their restored romance appears to be official, Stormzy does not appear in the Love Island host’s Instagram photo dump.
While she appears to be all smiles in her photos, a source has revealed that their flight home was really grounded due to travel disruption.
‘Stormzy and Maya flew to Athens by helicopter then got in his private jet – but ended up being stuck on the tarmac for hours because of the flight chaos,’ a source told The Sun.
A ‘network-wide failure’ hit computer systems used by the UK’s air traffic control on bank holiday Monday, leaving 500 flights unable to enter the airspace.
Although the problem has been rectified, an estimated one million travellers were inconvenienced with delays of up to 12 hours.
The source added: ‘Eventually they took off but on another jet and got back late last night.’
Even private aircraft owned by Brit award winners were reportedly barred from flying, giving Maya and Stormzy more time together than intended.
If the bright smiles on their faces are any indication, we’re sure they didn’t mind.
The celebrity couple dated for four years before splitting up in 2019. Stormzy has spoken about how he regrets the separation and how things ended.
Maya has been as candid about her affections for the Vossi Bop artist, previously implying that they are still close.
Fans have been flooding Maya’s Instagram with requests for Stormzy photos and confirmation of the affair.
So yet, neither has the couple acknowledged or denied anything, and Maya’s reps have declined to comment on the claims.
