Margot Robbie has revealed her plans to get behind the camera, as she wants to try her hand at directing.
The Suicide Squad actress spilled the beans on where she wants to go in her career next, and already has a movie in mind that she wants to helm.
Appearing on a stunning cover of British Vogue, she told the publication: ‘I want to direct. I’d like to try writing. Those would be huge challenges, which to be honest, I might not pull off. I also think directing is a privilege and not a right. But I have a story that’s been in my head for years. And I need to put pen to paper and see if it looks ridiculous or not.’
She gave precisely nothing away from what we can expect of her directorial debut, but it may have a little something to do with an action film, a genre she is desperate to see more women in.
‘Those scenes where everything’s exploding around you, and you make it just in time, those massive epic war hero runs? Those movie moments? Girls never get those. Girls never get those,’ she continued.
‘From a business or statistical standpoint, those are the high-paying jobs. So I really want to advocate for women writing big blockbuster action films. And then also, the perception that women aren’t interested in action is ridiculous.’

Margot kicked her career off as the sassy Donna Freedman in Neighbours, before making her big screen debut in About Time and landing an Oscar nomination for best actress in her role for I, Tonya.
She will next be starring in the upcoming Barbie movie, directed by Greta Gerwig, and teased that the flick will go against expectations.
‘It comes with a lot of baggage! And a lot of nostalgic connections. But with that come a lot of exciting ways to attack it,’ she said of the project. ‘People generally hear Barbie and think, “I know what that movie is going to be,” and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, “Oh, well, maybe I don’t…”’
Could we finally get the action Barbie movie of our wildest dreams?
