Margot Robbie set to star in and produce new Ocean’s Eleven film amid Pirates of the Caribbean rumour

Margot Robbie is set to star in a new instalment of the Ocean’s Eleven franchise.

The actor, 31, has secured a stellar Hollywood career for herself, having appeared in the likes of Suicide Squad and Bombshell, and tipped to take over Pirates of the Caribbean from Johnny Depp.

Now she has been tipped to take on a new Ocean’s movie, reportedly both starring in and producing the flick.

Margot is said to be teaming up with director Jay Roach of Austin Powers and Meet The Fockers fame, whose direction she worked under for Oscar-winning drama Bombshell.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Margot will produce with Jay, Tom Ackerly and Michelle Graham.

Details of the script, written by screenwriter Carrie Solomon, are being kept tightly under wraps, however it will be an original Ocean’s Eleven story.

It is also reportedly known that the film will be set in Europe some time in the 1960’s.

The new Ocean’s film is not yet greenlit but is currently in active development, with production to begin next spring, a source told THR.

Further executive producers are said to be Gary Ross, Olivia Milch and Josey McNamara, while Village Roadshow will act as executive producer and potentially co-financer.

Ocean’s Eleven began in 2001 with director Steven Soderbergh’s sleek and stylish heist comedy starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.

Since then it has spawned multiple sequels, including the 2018 all-female heist film that featured the likes of Rihanna, Sandra Bullock and Kate Blanchett.

Matt Damon, who starred in the originals, even made a cameo in the film.

Margot is currently producing and starring in the live-action film Barbie, wth a recent snap from the set showing her in the doll’s iconic pink open-top sports car.

Oscar-winner Greta Gerwig is directing the film after writing the screenplay with her partner, Noah Baumbach.

The stellar cast includes Ryan Gosling as Ken, as well as Saturday Night Live’s Kate McKinnon, Marvel superhero Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp and America Ferrera.

Will Ferrell is also joining in the fun, with the comedy heavyweight’s inclusion potentially revealing the tone of the film.
