Madonna’s family allegedly feared the worst when the musical diva became ill with a “serious bacterial illness.”
The Material Girls superstar, 64, is presently in serious care after being discovered unconscious.
She caught the infection on June 24, and while her health is now ‘improving’ she is still ‘under medical care.’
Her daughter, Lourdes Leon, 26, was reportedly by her side throughout the ordeal.
A family friend of the global superstar revealed how her relatives ‘prepared for the worst’ following the horrific ordeal as ‘everybody believed that they may lose her.’
‘For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst,’ they shared.
‘That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday. Everyone believed that we may lose her, and that has been the reality of the situation,’ they added to Mail Online.
Her manager confirmed that her upcoming Celebrations tour is postponed, writing: ‘On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU.
‘Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
‘At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.
‘We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.’
The famous artist’s Celebration tour was scheduled to begin in July, beginning in Canada.
She was then scheduled to perform many nights in London in October and December, as well as appearances in Europe and North America.
The Celebration Tour is the pop legend’s first tour since she celebrated four decades in the entertainment profession.
Celebrating her remarkable career, Madonna urged her fans to “join the party” in January when she launched the Madonna Celebration Tour in a unique video accompanied by superstars such as Jack Black and Amy Schumer.
