Months after the paparazzi shots that stopped the nation were published, Lily James has finally spoken out about her alleged affair with Dominic West.

Last October Lily, 32, and married actor Dominic, 51 – co-stars in the new TV series The Pursuit of Love – were caught enjoying what appeared to be a romantic weekend together in Rome.

The media storm that followed resulted in a bizarre series of events, including a staged photoshoot out the front of Dominic and his wife Catherine Fitzgerald’s home and a handwritten statement from the two.

This led to Catherine assuring the public that their marriage was fine but it is reported that she banned her husband from working with Lily again.

Lily is now on the campaign trail for the BBC series and in an interview with The Guardian she declined to discuss what happened – but admitted there is a story to tell.

Asked about the ‘media storm’ around her rumoured affair with Dominic, Lily did not go into detail, but did address it.

‘Ach, I’m not really willing to talk about that,’ she said.

‘There is a lot to say, but not now, I’m afraid.’

The adaptation of Emily Mortimer’s novel follows Linda Radlett, who is played by Lily, on her search for love and marriage, with Dominic playing her father Matthew.

It was filmed from July to October of last year, with the now-infamous trip between the two taking place soon after filming wrapped.

The three-part series, an adaptation of the beloved novel by Nancy Mitford, is set to begin on Sunday May 9, to take over from Line of Duty.
