Lewis Capaldi opens up about ‘extremely low points’ in music career: ‘It has taken a toll mentally’

Lewis Capaldi spoke out to fans about his mental health issues since becoming famous, as he prepares to produce a documentary on Netflix.

The 26-year-old singer made the revelation on Twitter, along with a banner for his behind-the-scenes film, Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now.

In his update, he stated he had faced some ‘very low periods’ in his career thus far that placed him in a ‘weak position’.

Mirroring the name of his upcoming film, the star captioned his post that included a message typed out into a series of screenshotted note pages: ‘How I’m Feeling Now x [sic]’.

He began sharing with his fans: ‘When the opportunity to make a documentary came up for me I was extremely hesitant.

‘I think because I seem quite open about a lot of things whether it be in interviews, on stage or social media people assume they know a lot about me and my life but in actual fact I tend to keep a lot of things to myself as a matter of preference.

‘I feel like there’s a lot of things in it I haven’t spoken about before and in truth the whole film became way more intimate than I’d ever imagined so it feels like a particularly vulnerable position to be in’.

Saying he was ‘wildly scared’ about the film’s debut, he stated that it will record some of his ‘very low times’.

The Netflix release was called after a song from the star’s upcoming album on how he has handled his meteoric career thus far.

One penned: ‘can’t wait to watch it! Well done mate’.

Another typed: ‘Being vulnerable is a super power Lewis. Not everyone can show their vulnerable side… love you lots x [sic]’.

‘So you’re saying that we’ll get BOTH the documentary AND a new song?!,’ was a social media user’s excited response.

Lewis also informed that the song that inspired the film’s title would be released on March 17 at midnight.
