Khloe Kardashian has been forced to justify her decision to tweet a spoof photo of herself wearing a Kim Kardashian mask in honour of her sister’s birthday.
Fans appeared to get tangled up in the snapshot, mistaking it for an awkwardly altered photograph of birthday girl Kim, 43.
However, Khloe has since stated that there was no shade in her Instagram post in her normal lighthearted manner.
The reality actress, 39, sent Kim a heartfelt homage on her special day, describing her sibling as a “superhero” and referring to the mother-of-four as her “sister soulmate.”
Along with this, she shared a touching selection of Kim images from the past, including flashback photos of them together and one of Kim cuddling with her nephew – and Khloe’s kid – one-year-old Tatum.
But it was the first photo, which showed Khloe seated at a table with a paper Kim Kardashian face mask at her sister’s upscale dinner, with a pair of sunglasses over the top, that sparked the most discussion.
‘Is it just me noticing the first picture being hella off looking,’ asked one follower of the image, while another wrote: ‘lmao wait that first pic is sketch 😂😂’
‘The caption is 🔥 but the first photo tho. 😬’ added someone else, while another fan admitted the picture had made them ‘gasp’.
‘Is the first pic Kim? If it is I didn’t know she had a tattoo 😭’ observed someone else, referencing the tattoo that Kloe has on the inside of her wrist.
The mum-of-two eventually took to social media once more to shut down the chatter, writing: ‘I did not think I would have to explain this, but the first photo is of me wearing a mask of my sister’s face.’
She continued: ‘To everyone that’s confused not knowing she had a tattoo, she does not. To everyone saying I posted a really ugly, it’s of me wearing a face mask lol everything will be ok kids! I promise.’
Khloe then finished: ‘Enjoy your weekend and don’t forget to wish @kimkardashian a very happy birthday.’
The Good American founder then posted a similar clarification on her Instagram Stories, admitting that she found the confused comments ‘hilarious’ as she wrote: ‘I cannot believe anyone would actually think this is her.’
‘And to the ones that say I’m mean for posting this of her… it’s A MASK. Her head isn’t this bug guys,’ she quipped.
Khloe also shared a video of herself goofing about in the mask from Kim’s opulent birthday party in Beverly Hills on Friday night, stating in her best Kim accent, ‘Bomb girl, you look good – you look so good!’
Fans also saw the funny side of the misunderstanding, with one responding: ‘Lol I’m glad I’m not the only who didn’t know this was Khloe with a Kim mask. I thought it was Kim with a distorted filter.’
