Kevin Hart ‘can’t walk’ after accident is in a wheelchair for the foreseeable future

Kevin Hart will be in a wheelchair for the foreseeable future following an injury.

On Wednesday, the Ride Along actor and comedian announced the news to his Instagram followers, releasing a video of himself seated in a wheelchair.

He claimed that he raced in a footrace against former NFL standout Stevan Ridley but pushed himself too far. The 44-year-old comedian recalls challenging Ridley, best known for his time with the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers, to a race to test who was faster.

Kevin warned those in his audience of a mature age: ‘To all my men, women out there who are 40 and above, it’s not a game, respect that age or that age will make you respect it. I was made to respect it. This is just a public service announcement as I know people may see me out and I don’t want you to be alarmed but I’m in a wheelchair.’

The Jumanji star then turned the camera to see his wheelchair and explained how it was caused by him attempting to ‘do some young stuff.’

Kevin said he was quicker than Ridley before the race, but when they did the 40-yard sprint, he ‘blew all [his] s**t.’

‘Tore my lower abdomen and my abductors are torn. I don’t even know what that is, but I tore them,’ the actor said.

He then declared: ‘I can’t walk. This is 44… It’s over, sit down. What are we competing for at this age? What am I even doing? Why did I even race? Stupidest s*** ever … got to be the stupidest man alive. It is what it is man, this is life.

‘Got to be the stupidest man alive. It is what it is. This is life. I’m out.’

Kevin further informed that his recuperation period will span six to eight weeks.

The comedian’s buddies took advantage of the chance to mock him while also offering him their best wishes.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson commented: ‘In tore my adductor off my pelvis during a wrestling match. True story. You’ll be fine. You’ll grow a 3rd ball but you’ll be fine 😂 Heal up.’

Will Smith empathised: ‘Getting older is REAL!! Heal Up, Kev!!’

R&B singer Mario quipped: ‘You gotta warm up for about 10 minutes big fella!’

Tracee Ellis Ross was particularly amused and told her friend ‘sorry and [several cry-laughing emoji].’

Michael Ealy wrote: ‘Kev Kev Kev… damn Gina. Praying for your recovery brother.’

Wanda Sykes joked: ‘If 44 is kicking yo ass..wait til you hit 55…you might just disintegrate. Get well dummy!’

Kevin’s health issues are not his first, as he was engaged in a catastrophic vehicle accident in 2019 that required surgery.

When the automobile went into an embankment in Malibu Hills, California, the Secret Life of Pets star was a passenger. He was treated for back injuries and was sent from the hospital after 10 days to a rehabilitation centre.

Opening up about the ordeal, Kevin said on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in 2020: ‘My biggest cry in life came from the first day that I came home from the hospital because I never had to see that house again.

‘Like there was an option of me never seeing that home again. There was an option of me never walking on that driveway again. There was an option of me never seeing my wife and my kids again.’
