Kelly Clarkson made a cheeky remark in response to a fan’s even cheekier request to kick off her residency in Las Vegas.
Fans gathered to witness the Breakaway singer perform live as Kelly Clarkson’s first residency in Las Vegas, Chemistry: An Intimate Evening with Kelly Clarkson, began over the weekend.
The Bakkt Theatre at Planet Hollywood will host her till August 19 for ten sold-out performances.
In the 95-minute performance, one fan received more than they bargained for when Kelly reacted to their playful sign with an even more NFSW remark.
Kelly approached the fan while on stage and read out the sign: ‘My girlfriend gave me a hall pass for you.’
Fans screamed as the Emmy award-winning talk show host said: ‘If I was into chicks, I’d take up the offer.’
Slang for a celebrity with whom your lover is permitted to have sex outside of the relationship is “hall pass.” Usually, these are jokingly granted with strict restrictions.
It originates from the American educational system, where students are required to get a hall pass in order to leave their classrooms while classes are in session.
As she walked away, in a glittering green and black jumpsuit with a black velvet jacket, Kelly continued and caveated: ‘I just unfortunately like d***s.’
The Because of You singer giggled to herself and her guitarist after the remark as the audience erupted.
The reason for Kelly’s residency is her most recent album Chemistry, which she published on June 23 following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, the man she had been with for over ten years.
She started dating the talent agent in 2012, who also served as her manager. He is the son of her former manager Narvel Blackstock and the actress Reba McEntire.
River Rose, 9, and Remington Alexander, 7, are the couple’s two children, and they were married in October 2013.
Due to “irreconcilable disagreements,” Kelly filed for divorce in 2020, and it was finally granted in 2022.
Her first non-Christmas album since 2017, Chemistry, arrived at number six on the Billboard album charts and takes the listener on an open journey through her sentiments over the divorce.
