Katy Perry has burning questions for Stella McCartney about British culture and they’re very important

Katy Perry spent the weekend immersing herself in British culture after attending King Charles III’s Coronation.

Backstage at the Coronation Concert, the California Girls hitmaker, 38, chatted with fashion designer Stella McCartney before performing at the Windsor Castle ceremony to honour the new king.

Katy put on her best English accent and asked Stella, 51, about British customs, including whether milk should be poured before or after a tea bag while brewing a cup of tea.

Sharing the video to her Instagram, Katy asked her followers to answer the age-old debate which she blamed on her Kent-born husband Orlando Bloom.

‘Take it out before the milk,’ Stella confirmed before the pair moved on to another divisive British question.

‘Do we put jam or cream on the scone first?’ Katy asked before Stella corrected her pronunciation of the sweet treat.

‘Clotted cream first, double clotted cream, because if you don’t the jam squishes off,’ Stella said, though we’re sure there will be some who disagree.

Posting the clips to her Instagram feed, Katy wrote: ‘Hard hitting q’s from backstage with @stellamccartney at the #coronationconcert on @bbc and @pbs for us ‘mericans fight it all out in the comments and blame @orlandobloom (sic).’

It happened only days before Katy performed at King Charles’ coronation event alongside Lionel Richie, Olly Murs, Nicole Scherzinger, and Take That.

The singer looked stunning in a flowing gold gown fit for a queen as she sang some of her best hits in front of an audience of 20,000 people.

Katy dedicated Firework to the King, as well as “the work we get to do together with the British Asian Trust and their Children’s Protection Fund.”

To commemorate her performance, her husband Orlando, 46, wrote a moving homage to the pop sensation.

‘Immensely proud of you my darling,’ said Pirates of the Caribbean actor Orlando, who posted a snapshot of the huge light show that lit up the sky above Katy during her performance. ‘You always bring the light.’

The Coronation Concert is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
