Amy Price, Katie Price‘s mother, says she thinks her daughter has “body dysmorphia” because she “hates” it when the star gets plastic surgery.
The 71-year-old woman is the mother of model Katie, 45, as well as daughter Sophie and son Dan. She has spoken out about I’m a Celebrity’s Katie’s treatments.
This comes after Katie showed in a TikTok this week that her face was wrapped in bandages and that her nose had a splint held in place with tape.
Amy has called Katie’s bigger breasts “ridiculous” in the past. Now, she says she thinks Katie has body dysmorphia, a mental health condition in which a person spends a lot of time worried about flaws in their look that other people don’t notice.
Amy told Vanessa Feltz on Friday that she “absolutely hates” when Katie has to go to the hospital for surgery.
She said: ‘I absolutely hate it and she knows it.
‘I think she, and I got her to admit it the other day, “you’ve got body dysmorphia.”‘
She went on: ‘You know you look all right but why do you think you need to tweak this, tweak that or have a tattoo or change her hair?’
Amy went on to say that she thinks Katie wants surgery because she is “upset” or “hurt.”
She said: ‘I think when there’s moments of upset or she’s not feeling right or she needs comfort in a way or hurt that’s what she does because she thinks she’s in control of herself.’
This comes after Amy said she was worried about her daughter going under the knife so many times and called the size of her breasts “crazy.”
Amy talked about how she didn’t want to back the surgeries from the beginning when she went on This Morning earlier this month to talk about her new book, The Last Word.
‘It started off from an early age when she did her first shoot and it was on a beach and someone had said “how can she be a Page Three girl, she’s got no boobs?”,’ she explained.
‘She heard it…and she was adamant then that she wanted to change and have bigger boobs, so that’s how it started.’
She continued: ‘I didn’t want her to have any surgery at all, and I even cancelled a few operations so she couldn’t have her boobs done.’
However, Amy then said that her daughter ‘learnt not to tell me’ until she was either ‘going down into the operating theatre’ or afterwards.
‘I used to go “now what have you done and why have you done this”,’ she said.
Amy then said she believed Katie was struggling with body dysmorphia.
‘I mean, her boobs are ridiculous if you ask me,’ she added.
In her memoir, Amy discusses her daughter’s surgery at length in the book, saying: ‘The natural 32B boobs my daughter had as a 17-year-old have got bigger and bigger until I barely recognise the body in front of me.
‘Some of the things she has done to her body are not only ridiculous, but dangerous,’ the extract read, as reported by The Sun.
Katie first went under the knife in 1998 to try to get bigger breasts. At first, she went up one cup size. The next year, she had another breast growth and went up to a 32D.
A year later, she was a 32G, but when she met her first husband, Peter Andre, she went down to a 32F and then a 32D. In the years after, she went back up to a 32G.
When asked earlier this year if she planned to have anymore plastic surgery, Katie replied on GB News: ‘Oh my God, that’s just a no brainer! What do you think? Of course!’
Vanessa Feltz’s TalkTV show airs weekdays from 4pm.
