Medical crises are often stressful, but Katie Price said that her mother, Amy, almost missed essential treatment when Just Stop Oil blocked the road.
Katie said on Jamie Laing‘s podcast Private Parts that the ambulance she was riding in with her mother was blocked by demonstrators back in November.
Many people disagree with the methods of protest employed by climate activists, therefore Just Stop Oil has been embroiled in a lot of controversy.
The collective describes itself as a “nonviolent civil resistance group demanding that the UK Government cease all new oil, gas and coal projects.”
When the disturbances occurred last year, Katie’s mother was offered a life-saving procedure with only two weeks to live.
Amy Price, 71, required a lung transplant and was on her way to the hospital when protesters shut down traffic on the M25, which she needed.
‘Mum had two weeks left to live at the time. She found a donor. She was waiting five years for a lung,’ shared Katie on the podcast.
Amy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017 and required a lung transplant to survive.
Doctors must discover a qualified donor and operate relatively immediately in order to make the organ viable for surgery.
Katie, who has five children herself, continued: ‘It was the day all the oil protesters were on the M25 and you have three hours to get to hospital otherwise you can’t have the donor [organ]. So they had to get an ambulance.
‘When they were on the motorway, they didn’t realise. They had to go up the hard shoulder, and get an ambulance to get through it, because if you’re not there you lose it [the lung].’
Despite the objections, Amy was able to obtain the operation, and her daughter praised the NHS workers for their assistance.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing as Amy revealed on The Katie Price Show, saying: ‘I went into cardiac arrest and they had to pump me to bring me back and I didn’t know that…
‘Apparently I was shouting out, “I can’t breath, I can’t breathe, they’re killing me”. That’s because I was filling up with blood but what I can remember was dreaming, thinking, “I’ve got to survive till five o’clock. They’re trying to kill me.”
‘I’m hot, I’m sweaty, I can’t breathe. I thought, “Five o’clock, the nurses change so these two nurses, people that are trying to kill me, right, they go home”.
‘So I was counting strips on the wall, thinking, “Right as I’ll do that one, breathe slower and then you save your energy a bit more”.’
Amy is now feeling much better, but Katie has also been in some difficulties, albeit not of the medical variety, when the police approached her about a recent discovery.
The 45-year-old confessed she’s been in contact with a convicted killer in preparation for a new TV programme she’s planning.
Katie has been warned by police not to communicate with the man, but she has not stopped talking to him.
In addition, she has a new dog named Tank, although she has gotten outrage for appearing to strike the Alsatian while on TikTok live.
There is already a 36,000-signature petition barring her possessing pets since seven of them, including five canines, died of unexplained reasons while in her care.
