Kate Garraway has led a host of celebrities including Sharon Osbourne, Gemma Collins, Myleene Klass and more to encourage people to stay at home to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The Good Morning Britain host, 53, has experienced the devastation caused by coronavirus first-hand as her husband, Derek Draper, has been in hospital for almost a year after a contracting it.

Derek was admitted at the end of March 2020 with coronavirus, and remains in hospital in a minimally conscious state after the virus left him with many other health issues, including holes in his heart and diabetes.

Kate has been warned Derek may never fully come round from his coma, after being one of the most badly-affected cases.

The presenter has teamed up with many other celebrities for the star-studded video, encouraging others to stay at home to stop the spread of the virus from person to person.

Other stars appealing for viewers to work together include Gregg Wallace, Shane Richie, Joey Essex, Harry Redknapp and Jordan North.

The film will air across 650 national and regional news brands from today to encourage the public to keep up their efforts to observe lockdown rules and to practise social distancing.

While it is hoped that the vaccination efforts will mean normal life can eventually resume, the public have been warned that restrictions will have to remain in place until it is safe to lift them.

The current lockdown means everyone should stay at home where possible, only going out for essentials such as food shopping, medical visits or to work if they are unable to work from home.

Foreign travel is also restricted to essential journeys only, with all travel corridors currently closed and people returning to the UK being set to face hotel quarantine on their return, which is due to be introduced shortly.
