Jonnie Irwin has expressed a desire to travel overseas now that summer has arrived.
Jonnie, 49, has been making the most of family time after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, and he just spoke honestly about his travel limitations in a new interview.
After admitting in November that he was suffering from terminal illness, the former A Place In The Sun broadcaster has kept his personal life under wraps in recent months.
Last year, the Escape to the Country star stated that he didn’t know how long he had left to live when lung cancer spread to his brain.
Jonnie, who has three small boys with wife Jess, stated last week that if he were to plan a journey overseas, it would have to be somewhere near to home.
‘I really would like to go on holiday – every week I feel a little bit stronger,’ he explained to the Sun.
‘I don’t think I would be able to go long haul, I wouldn’t feel comfortable but if I could go somewhere in Spain, Portugal or Italy – that would be great,’ the presenter added.
Jonnie and Jess are the proud parents of three-year-old Rex and two-year-old twins Rafa and Corma.
He also told the outlet: ‘I get more tired, my appetite has been affected but I’m just trying to do as much as possible all the time really.’
Jonnie has had a lot of ups and downs in recent months, including a hospital stay to evaluate a change in his pain treatment regimen.
But it didn’t stop him from having a fantastic Father’s Day with his family, and he told followers last month that it was his best ever.
On June 18, the father-of-three took to social media to share a pleasant message in honour of the yearly event, which included arts and crafts with his children before some cricket action.
‘Had the best Father’s Day ever’, he wrote on Instagram.
Jonnie added: ‘Breakfast of Chocolate Guinness cake baked expertly my brilliant wife then cards from the boys and visit from my brother in law for a brief pillion ride back in time to enjoy some of the highs and lows of the Ashes ending in more cake with more family washed down by a drop of champers.’
