Jenna Ortega is allegedly in ‘early conversations’ with Wednesday creator Tim Burton to join Beetlejuice 2.
The original 1988 film was directed by the celebrated filmmaker, and original stars Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are said to be reprising their roles as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz, respectively.
According to Deadline, Jenna – who is presently starring in Burton’s Netflix series Wednesday, an Addams Family spin-off, and the Scream franchise – is in early talks to star in the sequel.
Burton’s famous picture follows ghosts Adam and Barbara Maitland, played by Alec Baldwin and Geena David, as they recruit the assistance of a spirit named Beetlejuice to rid their house of its new occupants.
The director is set to return to oversee the sequel, which is now anticipated to begin production in London in early May or June.
Beetlejuice 2 rumours have been around for years, but they heightened in 2022 with news that original performers Michael and Winona may be returning, and Jenna may be lined up to portray Winona’s character’s daughter.

Burton recently sidestepped speculations that he would be in line to direct sequel, but stated ‘nothing is out of the question’.
He added to Deadline.com: ‘I only know if I’m making a film when I’m actually on the set shooting. I try to go back to the root of everything. It springs from a seed and then it grows, rather than out of these statements.
‘I am working on ideas and things but it’s all very early days. We’ll set how it goes. How’s that for a non answer?’
He remarked in 2014 that he missed playing Bettlejuice and that he would ‘love to collaborate’ with Michael again.
‘There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever,’ he said at the time.
‘I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.’
