Gemma Collins said she was’very lucky’ to have survived a freak storm that sank the luxury superyacht of a man once dubbed ‘Britain’s Bill Gates’.
In the early hours of Monday morning, Mike Lynch’s British-flagged Bayesian capsized in Porticello fishing village off the coast of Sicily due to an unexpected sea tornado called as a ‘waterspout’.
One person, believed to be the yacht’s chef, has been discovered dead, while six individuals remain missing from the 22-person vessel. A passing sailboat saved 15 people, including a mother and her one-year-old infant.
Gemma, 43, stunned her fans by revealing that she, too, was afflicted by the severe weather, which left her’stuck for four hours’.
In the caption of a photo taken on a boat, the reality TV star explained: ‘Holiday update my heartfelt condolences to the people and families involved in the tragic disaster at sea in Sicily 
‘I was very lucky me and my nephew survived the storm at sea 
‘I am shaken and returning to the UK tomorrow god was on our side today 
we was stuck for 4 hours can you imagine what was going through my mind thank you @bluediamondcruise for getting us back safely ’
The Bayesian, owned by multimillionaire billionaire Mike Lynch, was anchored a half mile off Porticello when the storm hit.
Jonathan Bloomer, head of Morgan Stanley International, and his wife, as well as Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah, are reportedly missing from the superyacht.
Divers have been searching for the remains and survivors, but they have yet to find the six missing people.
Gemma shared photographs from her boat trip, which should have been stunning, on her Instagram story. The images she posted revealed the beautiful start to the day, as well as the exquisite oysters and tomato salads she enjoyed aboard the boat.
She also displayed videos of the small boat being battered by rain while she, her nephew, and the two boat personnel huddled in the centre, with the exposed sections surrounding them saturated in rainwater.
The TV personality again emphasised that she was shaken by the experience. Another image on her story showed a photograph of an alcoholic drink as she revealed ‘As you all know I don’t drink but tonight I need 2!!!!’
Fans raced to support the singer and wish her well as she attempted to spend quality time with her family.
The former Only Way is Essex star has always been candid about her life and the setbacks she has faced over the years.
A few months ago, she admitted that she considered suicide after a horrible 72 hours on I am A Celebrity in 2014, before withdrawing due to panic attacks and realising it ‘was not for her.’
In the same interview in May, Gemma revealed that she discovered her unborn child was intersex before physicians advised her to terminate the pregnancy. She has also been struggling with family turmoil, since it was reported earlier this year that her mother stopped breathing and was brought to the hospital.
