Congratulations to Gemma Atkinson and her fiancé Gorka Márquez on the birth of their second child, a son.
The former Hollyoaks actress, 38, and her Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer, 32, made the revelation on social media on Wednesday, July 19. They met on the show in 2017, but were not put up together.
Their new addition is a younger brother for Mia, whom they welcomed on July 4, 2019.
Gemma announced the news on Instagram, writing, “My little man is here.”
‘Little man is here! He arrived safe and sound and he’s utterly wonderful. Mia is already the mother hen we expected her to be,’ she wrote in her caption.
‘We’re all home together soaking up this lovely little bubble before Gorks has to leave for Strictly rehearsals next week.
‘Thank you for all the lovely well wishes. Our family is complete.’
Gemma also included a family of four, two pets, and four red hearts, while Gorka posted the exact same message on his Instagram Story.
Gemma, 38, of Hits Radio, was first concerned that she might give birth over Mia’s birthday weekend, but she had reached 40 weeks and was still waiting for her baby boy to arrive.
‘Still standing, still eating cake. Little man still lovely and comfy #40weeks,’ she posted on Tuesday July 11, alongside a picture of her smiling outside a coffee shop with her bump still very firmly in place.
The pair announced their second pregnancy in January, with Gemma sharing many cute black and white photos, including one of Mia cuddling up to her developing tummy and another of the Spanish dancer grinning from ear to ear.
She wrote: ‘Impossible to hide my belly any longer. I’ve officially “popped.” 😂 Our baby boy will be joining our family later this year 💙.
‘We feel so incredibly blessed and Grateful to be on this journey again. Mia is absolutely thrilled! Although we may need to do some negotiating on names, as so far she’s adamant he’s going to be called Barbie.’
Gemma and Gorka announced weeks before the birth of their kid that they had signed on to feature in their own reality TV show.
Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens will take an uncensored look at their life as they prepare for the arrival of their kid while coping with the strains of motherhood and work.
The three-part series for W and UKTV Play will debut this summer and will follow Gemma’s pregnancy from conception through birth.
Announcing the project, Gemma said: ‘We’re so excited to be working with W on a project which, not only takes people into our lives behind closed doors, but also one that raises awareness of vaginal birth after Caesarean delivery, and an honest look into the journey of a second pregnancy after a previous traumatic birth.
‘We get lots of questions from people who have experienced something similar so it will be a great way for viewers to receive information from professionals who we meet along the way.’
Gemma believes that through airing the show, she may increase awareness of VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean), as Mia’s delivery necessitated an emergency C-section due to the baby’s heart rate dropping unexpectedly.
