Before approaching the stage, Ed Sheeran surprised dozens of lucky fans by showing up at a well-known Chicago hot dog vendor.
It occurs only one week after the 32-year-old English singer-songwriter made an enormous and unexpected appearance at a Nashville karaoke club earlier this month.
The Shape of You singer is presently halfway through the North American leg of his Mathematics global tour, which has been going since April 2022.
He set up camp in Chicago on Saturday night, preparing to take the stage at the city’s renowned Soldier Field venue for his record-breaking sold-out performance.
However, before he went on stage, he went to The Wiener’s Circle, an infamous Chicago hot dog joint known for providing both hot dogs and insults.
In video footage shared to Instagram, a Wiener’s Circle employee can be heard shouting that they’re going to teach ‘this w****r how make a f*****g hot dog!’
But it seems Ed wasn’t quite in the right mood to hurl swear words and insults at his fans, instead choosing to politely hand over their pre-concert snacks.
‘Served hot dogs at the Wiener’s Circle today,’ he wrote on Instagram. ‘This place is legendary in Chicago for serving hot dogs and insulting their customers.’
The iconic eatery said that Ed had “a lot to learn” when it comes to providing meanness with hot dogs to customers.
The Thinking Out Loud singer performed at Soldier Field before an audience of 73,000, which was proven to be the biggest concert attendance ever.
The stadium can accommodate 67,000 spectators for sports activities. The Chicago Bears NFL club and Chicago Fire MLS team both play their home games there.
The official account for the venue on Twitter, now called as X, cited a message that Ed had sent to his followers, thanking them for coming to see him.
‘Chicago! We’ve broken the ticket record for tonight. This is the largest concert that’s ever been here. There’s 73,000 of you here tonight!’ he said.
Ed surprised his Detroit audience earlier this month by inviting renowned rapper Eminem to perform the hit song Lose Yourself in front of a live audience.
