Denise Welsh retweeted a fan’s tweet informing her of a bogus Tinder profile utilising the star’s images to find possible partners.

The 64-year-old panellist on Loose Women was amused to learn she had fallen victim to catfishing on the well-known dating app.

Denise shared the social media article with an image of the fake profile and the message, “Best tweet ever in life!!! It states that presumably.I’ve been by myself for some time.

‘I’m curious and would like to be surprised and have a nice conversation.’

She followed up the message with a string of laughing emojis and reposted a meme in the next slide that featured a picture of the star in an all-green ensemble and brown boots with a caption that read: ‘Him: you better not be Denise Welch dressed as Robin Hodd when I get there’.

The phoney account, Gabi, featured a close-up selfie of the well-known visage with red lipstick.

The catfish added a description in German beneath their name, giving her age as 62.

The Twitter user who discovered the fake Denise Welch account said, ‘Obsessed with someone from work travelling across Europe and stumbling across a German catfishing as Denise Welch’. along with a screenshot of the account.

Denise has a famous son, Matty Healy of the band The 1975, from a previous relationship with Tim Healy. She is happily married to Lincoln Townley, her spouse of ten years.

She celebrated 11 years of sobriety earlier this week on Instagram, which led to her amusing discovery.

The singer gave her admirers an update on her sober life by posting a side-by-side collage of her visage, showing one from the years she drank alcohol and a more current photo.

She explained: ‘11 yrs sober today!!! Giving up my disastrous relationship with alcohol changed my life, my husbands life and my children’s lives. Plus the lives of all who love me.

‘It wasn’t easy. Addiction is a cruel and frightening illness. But together @lincolntownley and I realised that we were destroying many lives including our own and we did it.

‘I now have a wonderful marriage that is the foundation of my life. Our kids are happy and I hope those of you struggling find the strength to stop.

‘If alcohol no longer makes you happy, if your drinking makes others lives miserable it’s time to stop.

‘There is help there if you need it [sic].’
