Dan Walker said he felt’safe and comfortable’ after resuming riding his motorbike on Monday after a devastating collision last month.
The former BBC Breakfast presenter, 46, previously claimed he was hit by a car while riding his bike by posting a series of photographs of his bloodied and bruised face on social media.
Walker, who left the BBC to join 5 News on Channel 5 last year, uploaded a photograph of himself riding his bike in London today near St Pancras station and wrote: ‘Got back on the bike for first time today and felt comfortable and secure.
‘New bike, new helmet… just disappointed I didn’t manage to match the socks to the frame.’
Walker was involved in the collision on February 20 in Sheffield, where he resides.
Following the tragedy, he kept his social media fans updated on his rehabilitation and announced his return to Channel 5 earlier this month following a 10-day recuperation period at home.
Walker also said that he has been utilising films of his 2021 Strictly Come Dancing experience with his former dancing partner Nadiya Bychkova to test himself for concussion after announcing his return to work.
Speaking to Jeremy Vine on Channel 5, Walker said: ‘So I watch some of my old dancing (videos) back and then I pause them and I was testing my brain and my body to think, ‘Does my brain know what the next move is and can my body remember it?’ And it did on every single occasion.
‘So I told Nadiya that she’s helped me with my recovery from this accident, so Strictly does help even years after.’
His first hosting assignment after the event was the prestigious Royal Television Society Awards on March 1, where he threw a jab at former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, suggesting that the TV star was’milking’ his horrible bike mishap.
Nevertheless, Walker, who said he almost died in the crash, struck out at Morgan as a ‘numptie’, who he called out for offering ‘a lecture on bitterness’.
Walker previously stated that he is “certain” that he was not to responsible for the event, but he could not go into further detail owing to an ongoing police investigation.
