Chris Hemsworth has given an update on the long-awaited Hulk Hogan biopic but sadly it’s not the most hopeful.
Back in 2019, it was revealed the Thor: Love And Thunder actor would be donning the famous red and yellow spandex to play the WWE legend, but since then any kind of progress has been few and far between.
Asked about the status of Todd Phillip’s movie, Hemsworth told Chris Van Vliet: ‘Uhh – maybe! Todd Phillips is doing, I think, Joker 2 I believe and I’ve been off doing other films.
‘And yeah, it’s all in conversations and in development. Like a lot of things, a lot of different things need to come together for it to happen. But I don’t have 24 inch pythons – yet!’
So, it’s not the most encouraging response but at least he didn’t say no!
Back in September, John Pollono – who teamed up with Scott Silver to pen the script for the highly anticipated film about the WWE Hall of Famer – opened up on both Hemsworth’s potential as the wrestling star, and the state of the project as a whole.
‘I’m really excited to see the movie and hopefully – I don’t know how Covid-friendly that movie would be to shoot ’cause they got like 30,000 people in the crowds in some of these scenes,’ he told ScreenRant at the time. ‘I can’t wait to see it someday.’
While admitting there is a lot of secrecy around the movie, he praised Hemsworth as a performer and revealed his pride in the script itself.
‘Look man, I don’t know what I’m allowed to say about that. They send people that script and they have to read it in two hours, it’s like top secret, so I’m not gonna be the guy who gets fired on it,’ he teased.
‘But I’ll tell you, I’m really proud of the work, it’s great.’
The Hulkster – whose real name is Terry Bollea – is one of the most recognisable names in WWE history, and after a storied career he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005.
He later returned to WWE in 2018, three years after the company had first erased all mention of him from the company’s official website and severed ties with the superstar.
