Chris Evans announced his skin cancer diagnosis on Monday morning, just after returning from a sun-soaked family vacation in California.

The 56-year-old radio personality rushed out to sunny California with his children Noah, 14, Eli, 10, and twins Walt and Boo, both four, whom he shares with his golf pro wife Natasha Shishmanian.

Chris is also a proud father to his 37-year-old daughter Jade, whom he shares with ex-fiancée Alison Ward.

Chris has been posting entertaining photographs of his family enjoying anything from excursions to the beach to plain old-fashioned sightseeing on Instagram in recent days.

The star’s most recent vacation post was published the day before he revealed his skin cancer diagnosis live on TV.

On Monday, the father-of-five revealed his health difficulties to Virgin Radio listeners, but stressed that the disease had been discovered in its early stages.

Chris also expressed optimism for a full recovery, citing skin cancer as one of the more curable types of the condition.

Talking on his breakfast show, he explained: ‘I’ve just got to talk briefly about my biopsy for the skin cancer issue.

‘So, the best news that I got whilst I was away is that it was a positive test, so I have tested positive for skin cancer.

‘Obviously better news would have been [that it was] negative. But the reason it’s great news is because they’ve caught it as early as they can, as early as is possible.’

He also confirmed he had melanoma, adding: ‘There’s this phrase called a malignant melanoma – you know once you get something and you find out all about it – that is a redundant phrase because if it is a melanoma, it is malignant.’

‘But it’s been caught so early, just so you know, that it should be completely treatable.’

According to the broadcaster, that is set to happen ‘on the 14th of September’ with an operation to remove ‘a small square of skin’.
