As she is about to give birth to her second kid, Cher Lloyd updated her followers on her mental wellbeing.
The 30-year-old 2010 X Factor contestant is expecting her second child after delivering daughter Delilah-Rae in May 2018.
In April of this year, Cher and her husband Craig Monk—whom she wed in 2013—announced that they were expecting their second child.
Cher informed her followers that she has gestational diabetes as she prepares for the birth of her child.
As per the NHS, gestational diabetes is high blood sugar (glucose) that develops during pregnancy and usually disappears after giving birth.
Although it can occur at any time during pregnancy, it usually occurs in the second or third trimester.

The Swagger Jagger hitmaker recalled her emotional reaction to the diagnosis.
‘I got the call last week to tell me I had gestational diabetes. I burst into tears’, she began.
‘I felt scared, confused and instantly blamed myself.’
She continued: ‘I’ve spent most of my time researching gestational diabetes and trying to find recipes and ways to control it.
‘I’m still getting used to the changes and how this might affect the rest of my pregnancy.’
The pop star concluded: ‘I just wanted to reach out to any fellow gestational diabetes mamas out there sharing advice, stories and suggestions. Sending love ❤️’
Symptoms of gestational diabetes
Gestational diabetes does not usually cause any symptoms.
Most cases are only discovered when your blood sugar levels are tested during screening for gestational diabetes.
Some women may develop symptoms if their blood sugar levels gets too high (hyperglycaemia), such as:
- increased thirst
- needing to pee more often than usual
- a dry mouth
- tiredness
- blurred eyesight
- genital itching or thrush
Cher received a whole load of support in the comments, with fellow X Factor contestant Katie Waissel writing: ‘This tugged at my heart so much! I can only but imagine how you must be feeling but know that you’re not alone! Much like others have said in the comments, the fact that we get to test for these things means that we can do our best to balance our levels. And if anyone can conquer anything, it’s YOU!’
She added: ‘Your post I’m sure touches so many, and it’s amazing that we have platforms to open conversations like these. Stay strong, I’m happy to call and help if you need me, and know you are so loved and supported by so many. You can do this mama ❤️’
Although most pregnant women with gestational diabetes have healthy infants, it can still create issues.
These might include an unusually big baby that causes difficulty during delivery, a preterm birth, a newborn that has low blood sugar, and, in extremely rare circumstances, a stillbirth.
You are more likely to acquire type 2 diabetes later in life if you have gestational diabetes.
While Cher has mostly kept the details of her pregnancy a secret, she has let fans a peek into the intriguing new chapter.
The singer of the song “Want U Back” has been posing with her growing baby bulge in a variety of gorgeous dresses, including one worn to celebrate firstborn Delilah’s fifth birthday.
Cher just had a memorable birthday of her own, which was only two days ago.
She wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her at a restaurant in a floral dress: ’30 🎂 Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes 🤍’
Cher, a Worcestershire native, finished fourth on The X Factor twelve years ago; Matt Cardle went on to win the competition. Since then, Cher has had a successful pop career.
Her most recent track, Lost, which debuted in 2020, is off of two albums that she has already published.
After leaving her record label and signing a new contract in 2016, Cher has kept her fans waiting for her much awaited third album.
