Charlotte Church has made the decision to be tattooed.
The Welsh singer, who rose to popularity as a kid, has revealed her first tattoo – and it’s not little.
Charlotte, now 37, chose a symbolic pattern that wraps around both of her wrists.
The two snakes wrap around both of her hands and cross below, indicating her’strength’ and capacity to make’mindful decisions’ as she grows older.
‘Each aspect in these snakes embodies a depth of significance,’ the Crazy Chick hitmaker explained in her statement, debuting the artwork on social media.
‘Placed prominently on my hands and forearm, they serve as a constant reminder to bring my awareness back to the present moment.
‘They’re a testament to strengthening my body and making mindful choices as I get older.’
She continued: ‘They’re a nod to Lilith, the first woman and her symbol of two snakes. She was equal to Adam yet refused to lay under him, and then fled from Eden gaining her independence.
‘I find her story fascinating, and it fuels my fight and keeps me aware of patriarchal confines wherever I see them.’
Tagging the tattoo artist, she concluded: ‘Thank you so much for your beautiful art @aimeecornwelltattoo! I’m in love with them 🐍’
Taking to the comments, one of Charlotte’s fans were full of compliments.
One wrote: ‘Ooh wow, love them, really beautiful 😍’
‘Love love love! 🔥 the meaning is just spot on – love the story of Lilith 😍’, another said.
‘They are beautiful, but I know how much that bit on your inner wrist hurts to have tattooed!! X’, another said.
Charlotte initially showed off her tattoos a few days ago.
She posted a happy photo from the tattoo studio, despite the discomfort of the needle.
‘Having my first ever tattoos a couple of weeks ago was an absolutely life-changing experience!’, she said.
Charlotte – who burst onto the scene at age 12 – recently transformed her life by venturing further into wellness and spirituality.
Having been raised as a Catholic, she said she was ‘always really drawn to the existential questions of life.’
The singer remarked on how connecting with spirituality has pushed her career in a new direction.
‘I’ve always been a deeply intuitive person and I think in part that’s because… maybe that’s just partly who I am but also being thrust into the limelight at 12 and then going all over the world to perform on, TV shows, for Popes, Presidents.
‘It was so high pressure and it was such a different set of circumstances and countries and languages and songs that I’d have to learn overnight, for a Japanese TV show, say.
‘I just had to really tune in to my spidey senses, to my intuition and just completely trust it because everything else – the logical stuff – just didn’t cut it.
‘I was really living on my instinct but I definitely think in part, I can only take so much credit for it because I do feel like this is something that I was birthed with into existence. I feel like this is something that the land was calling for.’
