Celebrities such as Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair have shown their support for Shannen Doherty following her cancer update.
Shannen, 52, announced yesterday that her breast cancer has spread to her brain.
She is now undergoing radiation treatment, admitting she has ‘fears’ but praised the ‘amazing’ medical staff taking care of her.
After she shared her heartbreaking post on social media, thousands of comments flooded in with messages of support.
Actress Sarah was keen to heap praise on her, writing: ‘You are a warrior’.
Selma added: ‘This is a lot. This is a lot to take on , still again. And I am wishing for all the wise peace you have learned to find you in the terror moments. To know we are holding you. Love. All love. 💛’
American filmmaker Kevin Smith added that he is ‘rooting’ for his ‘irreplaceable friend’.
‘You have been such a fearless fighter your whole life, so it’s understandable to be a little scared from time to time. But when those moments pass, let that indomitable Doherty spirit take over anew. I love you so much, my Mallrat,’ he commented.
Amanda Kloots wrote: ‘Sending lots of love and prayers’.
Olivia Munn also left a series of heart emoji.
In her original post, Shannen shared a video of her treatment.
She wrote in her caption: ‘January 12, 2023. On January 5th, my ct scan showed Mets in my brain. Yesterdays video was showing the process of getting fitted for the mask which you wear during radiation to your brain.
‘January 12, the first round of radiation took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life.
‘I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at cedar sinai.
‘But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like [sic].’
In the brief clip, Shannen’s eyes watered as she prepared to undergo treatment, while her doctors fed instructions to her.
The Little House on the Prairie actress was first diagnosed in 2020.
In a tearful interview with Good Morning America, the Charmed actress said at the time: ‘It’s going to come out in a matter of days or a week that I have stage four. So my cancer came back and that’s why I’m here.’
‘I don’t think I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. There’s definitely days when I say “Why me”, and then I go, “Well, why not me, who else besides me deserves this?” None of us do.’
She admitted that she was mostly worried about how her mother and her husband Kurt Iswarienko would cope.
Shannen has been open about her cancer journey, sharing updates with her fans and raising awareness about the disease.
She has also received support from her former co-stars, such as Jason Priestley and Alyssa Milano.
