Pete Bennett has shared details of the positive final text message he received from his ex-girlfriend, Nikki Grahame, not long before she died.

Big Brother star Nikki died on April 9 at the age of 38 following a battle with anorexia.

Her former housemate and boyfriend Pete managed to see Nikki in person several weeks before her death, but he has now revealed the last message he received from the reality star prior to her checking into a clinic for treatment with her eating disorder.

In his Heat column, Pete explained: ‘I told myself she’d get well again and we planned to do Kate Bush karaoke together one day as a duet when she was better.

‘She smiled and said, “Yes! When I’m well again”. So, she was up for getting better.’

The 39-year-old then revealed: ‘A few days later, she texted my to say. “Hey Petie, all good my end. Starting a clinic on Monday, which is good. And the sun is shining today!”’

Nikki’s friends had launched a GoFundMe page in March to raise money for her treatment which would cost £25,000. At the time of her death, they had managed to raise £69k in donations.

Pete also revealed that he was planning a special surprise for Nikki with her favourite singer, but she died before he could execute the plan.

‘I was looking to contact Kate Bush to see if she could send Nikki a message as I honestly thought that giving her a boost from her hero would help her start to feel more positive and recover,’ he said.

‘But then we got the news that she was gone. And it was too late.’

Pete had earlier paid tribute to Nikki after her death was announced, and said in an Instagram video: ‘We got loads of money and the amount of love and support for Nikki was overwhelming. ‘I thought to myself, yeah, we can save her. But it’s OK. she’s in a good place. She’s not suffering anymore.’

Holding a bottle of wine, Pete continued: ‘So I would just like to raise a f*****g glass, a f*****g bottle of wine, more like, for Nikki Grahame and all the love from us at Big Brother 7 that we really love you Nikki. You were a true winner, man. You were great. You f*****g rock it, babes.’

It has been announced that Nikki’s sudden death has sparked a ‘full internal investigation’ at Dorset County Hospital, with her family saying she was discharged too early.
