BBC’s You Me and The Big C host Deborah James ‘rushed back into theatre’ after small bleed in hospital as she battles cancer

Deborah revealed: ‘A small bleed meant I ended up being rushed back into theatre having a colonoscopy and Endocsopy within the hour to check for the source.

‘It’s amazing how quickly crash teams work, and As much as I just want to be home (it’s now getting on to two weeks in hospital), it’s also nice to feel in a safe place when my body isn’t playing ball.’

The presenter explained that she had an ‘awful night’ due to the new regimes as well as being ‘poked 10 times’ to find a suitable vein.

‘Praying today will be un-eventual and stable! Thank you for your love,’ she said.

‘Either me or mum @bowelgran will update – it’s nice to have another source for updating you lovley lot. Have to say that teaching mum how to use Instgram from my hospital bed has put a massive smile on my face! It’s certainly giving my family some well needed laughs!’

She added: ‘We keep going. One step at a time. As a late friend said “I haven’t come this far to only go this far”……..’

Deborah later shared new footage of her walking around the hospital halls with more energy than she had at the weekend, as well as a sweet photo of her mother eating dinner with wine beside her bed.

It comes days after the broadcaster shared her devastating ordeal, which included undergoing four more operations, being resuscitated and her family ‘praying [she’d] make it through the night’.

In January 2020, doctors declared Deborah cancer-free but later found the disease had returned and she would require surgery. That November, she had an operation on her 17th tumour.
