BBC Radio 6 Music has been pressured to difficulty an announcement after Shaun Keaveny’s exit from the community sparked complaints from listeners.

Shaun, who had the weekday 1pm-4pm afternoon present, left the station earlier this month after 14 years. He hosted his final programme on September 10 with a particular 90-minute episode inviting listeners into The Open Arms.

He stated a fond farewell to his loyal viewers with an eclectic mixture of tunes, taking part in the likes of The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Common, and Arctic Monkeys.

But listeners had been angered by his departure, forcing the BBC to formally reply to complaints.

‘As Shaun said on his final day, radio is an incredibly personal and much-appreciated medium,’ the BBC stated in an announcement.

‘Radio networks all the time evolve over time, however we perceive it might be tough for some listeners when a favorite presenter leaves and the schedule modifications.

‘Shaun is a much-loved presenter on 6 Music, and we respect his decision to leave the station. We wish him the best of luck for the future of course. You might be interested to know he’s masking for Liza Tarbuck once more on Radio 2 this Saturday, twenty fifth September.’

Shaun left 6 Music as he determined it was ‘time for a change’.Announcing his departure in July, the presenter defined in an announcement: ‘Things change, places change, people change, and it’s time for a change, after 14 years (it would appear longer to many) I’m leaving 6 Music. You have been there by births, marriages, deaths, divorces, get togethers, break ups, nice sandwiches, unhealthy curries, deceased pets, the lot.

‘You have been unceasingly humorous, all the time variety, all the time there with pendantry or help for even the silliest characteristic thought.

‘I will be back with something soon, and I hope you’ll come alongside for the trip. In the meantime, be at liberty to purchase me a pint within the Open Arms later, and keep in mind, I like you.’ (sic)

On September 10 Shaun revealed he’ll entrance podcast The Line-Up ‘in the near future’.

Red Dwarf star Craig Charles will probably be stepping to Shaun’s weekday slot from October.

He stated: I’m made up to have the ability to current a model new present on 6 Music later this 12 months.

‘So, join me each weekday afternoon for a cup of tea, a chat and where I’ll be taking part in some cracking tunes from throughout the musical spectrum. I can’t wait to get began – deliver it on!’
