Alan Carr and his ex Paul Drayton have shared their heartbreak after their beloved dog Bev died this week.
Paul shared the sad news on Instagram, along with a series of photos of him and Alan with the dog, as he detailed how important she had been to them.
He wrote: ‘It is with a heavy broken heart that myself and Alan @chattyman had to make the hardest decision to make our last act of love and let our Bev go.
‘She has been the best companion I could have hoped for. She has been my rock and saviour on many many occasions and I cannot begin to tell you how much we will miss her.’
Paul revealed that he and Alan had made sure Bev’s last day was as special as possible, adding: ‘We spent her last afternoon altogether in the garden of my new home, laughing, chatting and reminiscing on how much joy she brought to our lives, which is what I wanted her to feel and share.
‘For all you pet owners out there, give them a kiss and hold them tight and tell them you love them. RIP my angel. Love always, (Strict) Daddy #heartbroken.’
Alan also commented on the post with three broken heart emojis, leading to an outpouring of condolences from fans.
Amanda Holden left a crying emoji while model Jodie Kidd added: ‘I am so so sorry my darling xx sending so much love xxxx.’
Alan and Paul had announced their split in January, but have remained friends amid their divorce.
The pair had shared a joint statement at the time, saying they had ‘jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce’ after 13 years as a couple and three years of marriage.
